Sub: Complaint against improper Holding Tax calculation ward No-23, Holding no-87322
This is to bring to your notice and complain that I have received a notice on 15th Oct for the payment of the Holding Tax on my shop owned by me since 2012 which is not at all matching with my property and also the rate of Holding Tax mentioned is not as per DMC norms.
I have below queries need tobe reverted:
1. It is mentioned the arrear period to pay by me is from 2010-11 to 2015-16 while I bought the property in 2012.
2. The area of my property against which I need to pay Tax has been considered 150 Sqft. Against which documentary evidence they are asking for. My actual total area is 154 Sqft and as per your norms for commercial property I need to pay only 80% of my total area
3. The calculation for the taxation has been done @ of Rs 3.37 per sqft while my property falls under below 40 ft front road and the calculation decided by you all for this kind of property is 68 Paise per sqft
Hence there is a big mismatch on the calculation as well:
As per your claim:
150x3.37= 505 need to pay every year
While the real calculation as decided by the DMC and the Mayor of Dhanbad as per your notification on Influx Jharkhand dated 23rd June 2016 (http://influxjharkhand.com/dhanbad-gets-relief-reduction-in-the-holding-tax/) and live Hindustan.com dated 23rd June 2016 (http://www.livehindustan.com/news/jharkhand/article1-in-dhanbad-holding-tax-will-decrease-with-new-rule-540869.html) is as below:
80% of 154 sqft= 123.2 Sqft X .68 = 83.77 per annum need to pay.
Request you to do the needful and send me the modified notice to pay the taxes on regular basis.
